APEMETA – Portuguese Association of Environmental Technology Companies is a non-profit business association of environmental, private sector organizations that was created in 1989 with the goal of supporting entrepreneurship in the sector and which presently represents near to 130 member companies.
APEMETA, in so far as members are concerned, is the leading association of national environmental companies and aims to promote actions that contribute to the development of member companies, providing consulting services, specialized technical information, training and dissemination of availability and specialized skills of members at a national and European level.
APEMETA has obtained the status of Public Utility Organization in 2006, by Resolution of Prime Minister José Socrates, December 22, 2006.
APEMETA is recognized as an ENGOs, Environmental Non-Governmental Organization, registered in the APA – Portuguese Agency for the Environment and is a member of EUCETSA – European Committee of Environmental Technology Suppliers Associations, which has a say in defining policy and EU legislation and also promotes the competitiveness of European environmental technology enterprises.
APEMETA is concerned with increasing its representation and recognition of its role as a key player in the environmental business sector, acting to achieve the continuous improvement in the quality of its services in order to better serve and fully satisfy the requirements, needs, demands and expectations of its customers (members and non-members), as well as achieving the association objectives.
APEMETA recognizes quality to be key to increasing its representativeness and efficiency of its intervention next to its members, with a view to further strengthening the environmental sector.
